Former Griffins Tomas Tatar and Riley Sheahan each had a goal and an assist last night, but the Detroit Red Wings fell to the Florida Panthers in a shootout (5-4).  The Red Wings are in Philadelphia to take on the Flyers tomorrow night. 

In the AHL, the Grand Rapids Griffins lost to San Antonio (6-5) in OT last night after leading by 3 goals heading into the 3rd. period.  The Griffins will host the Chicago Wolves this Friday night at Van Andel Arena - Faceoff time is 7pm.  And in other Griffins news, the Red Wings assigned right wing - Mikael Samuelsson to Grand Rapids. 

Dirk Nowitzki posted 28 points and nine rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks topped the Detroit Pistons (116-106) last night in Texas.  Brandon Jennings led Detroit with 26 points and 7 assists.  The Pistons are now (17-27) on the season and will host Orlando tomorrow night at the Palace. 

What an impressive week for #21 Michigan....as the Wolverines knocked off rival and #3 ranked Michigan State Saturday night at the Breslin Center - (80-75).  Derrick Walton Jr. and Nik Stauskas each scored 19 points for U-M....Gary Harris led all scorers with 27 points.  U-M is now (15-4) overall and (7-0) atop the Big Ten.  MSU drops now to (18-2) and (7-1) in conference play.  The Wolverines are the first team since 1986-87 to win three straight games against Top-10 teams. 

The Buffalo Bills have a new defensive coordinator....he is former Detroit Lions head coach - Jim Schwartz.  Schwartz was hired over the weekend, and before he became the Lions head coach, Schwartz was the defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans from 2001 through 2008.
