"The Kalamazoo Kid" - Derek Jeter is calling it a career!  The New York Yankees shortstop wrote a letter on his Facebook page yesterday, saying he will retire after the 2014 season.  Jeter battled through an injury-plagued 2013 season, appearing in only 17 games because of a myriad of problems. 

Day 5 recap of the Winter Olympics from Sochi...Shani Davis finished off the podium last night in the men's 1000 meters, which was shocking for Team USA, but in the women's snowboarding halfpipe Kaitlyn Farrington brought home gold and teammate Kelly Clark earned the bronze.  Team USA is currently 2nd. in the Medals Count with 12 medals (4 gold)...1 behind Norway with 13. 

In their last game before the All-Star break, the Detroit Pistons let a late lead slip away and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers (93-89) last night at The Palace.  The loss snapped the Piston's three-game winning streak. 

David Brown scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and recorded four steals, and the Western Michigan Broncos hit clutch free throws in the final seconds of the game to down the Akron Zips (57-54).  Shayne Whittington scored 15 points and 7 rebounds in the win. 

#9 Michigan State is back in action tonight against Northwestern (12-12, 5-6).  Tip-off is set for 7pm at the Breslin Center, and the Spartans come in at (20-4 overall, 9-2 in the Big Ten)...a half-game behind league leading Michigan at (10-2).
