The Women's Hockey Gold Medal game will take place today in Sochi, and it features Team USA vs. Canada.  Faceoff is Noon today, and you can listen to it live beginning at 11:45am right here on ESPN 96.1 or watch it live locally on WOOD-TV8.

Ted Ligety carved out a big lead in the men's giant slalom and held on to finally win Olympic gold in the event he's dominated for years on the World Cup circuit.  Ligety gave the U.S. its first alpine gold medal in this Winter Games.

In another great story from Sochi, former Detroit resident Lauryn Williams came up just a bit short of making history at the Olympics, she has a silver medal to show for her efforts in the woman's two-person bobsled.  Williams, a track and field star, won a silver medal in Athens in 2004 and a gold medal in London in 2012, and was trying to become just the second person to win gold medals in both the Winter and Summer Games.  She did become the first American woman to win a medal in both Games.

13th-ranked Michigan St. is back on the hardwood tonight in the Big Ten when they travel to take on the Purdue Boilermakers.  Game time in West Lafayette is 7pm, and Spartans point guard Keith Appling is expected to play.

David Brown poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the Western Michigan Broncos to a big (73-63) win at Ohio University.  WMU is now (17-8 overall and 10-3 in the MAC).

The Pistons were swept in a home-and-home series against the Charlotte Bobcats last night falling (116-98).  Brandon Jennings led Detroit with 20 points.  The loss puts the Pistons two and a half games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Lastly, NASCAR fans...don't forget the Daytona Duels will take place tonight under the lights at Daytona International Speedway starting at 7pm on the new Fox Sports 1.
