The Detroit Lions are adding another weapon for QB Matthew Stafford to throw to this season.  The organization agreed to a 5-year contract with former Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate yesterday worth $31 million dollars.  Tate caught 64 balls for 898 yards and 5 touchdowns last season for Seattle. 

The Big Ten Tournament tips off today in Indianapolis with 4 first-round games as #8 Indiana squares off with #9 Illinois at Noon followed by #5 Ohio St. versus #12 Purdue. Then, #7 Minnesota will matchup with #10 Penn St. this evening at 6:30pm followed by #6 Iowa at #11 Northwestern.  #1 Michigan will face the winner of the Indiana/Illinois game tomorrow at Noon.  Coverage will begin at 11:30am live right here on ESPN 96.1.  #3 Michigan St. will meet the winner of the Iowa/Northwestern game tomorrow night in the late game. 

Nick Castellanos is continuing to have a nice spring as he went 2-for-4 yesterday driving in 2 runs as the Tigers tied the Yankees (7-7) in ten innings.  Detroit will welcome Miami to Lakeland this afternoon with a 1:05pm first pitch. 

The Detroit Pistons lost to the Toronto Raptors last night (101-87).  Brandon Jennings led Detroit with 24 points.  The Pistons will return to the court on Saturday at The Palace as they host the Indiana Pacers. 

The Grand Rapids Griffins will start a schedule of 3 consecutive road games in 3 nights as they take on the San Antonio Rampage tonight.  Pregame coverage begins at 8:40pm with Faceoff at 9pm right here live on Newsradio WOOD 1300 & 106.9 FM. 

In NAIA Div. 2 National Tournament action from yesterday, the #9 Davenport University men's basektball team defeated #24 Ashford (Iowa) (63-46)...Dominez Burnett led the Panthers with 28 points.  #4 Cornerstone will face Northwest Christian University (Oregon) this afternoon at 1pm.
