Last night, a special one in Hockeytown, as the Red Wings retired Nicklas Lidstrom's number-5 jersey last night at the Joe.  Lidstrom, who retired in 2012, played his entire 20-year NHL career with Detroit and was named team captain in 2006.  He helped the Wings win four Stanley Cup championships and was a seven time winner of the Norris Trophy for the league's top defenseman.  His jersey is just the seventh to be raised to the rafters by the Wings.  The current Red Wings couldn't pick up a win for their former captain though, as Detroit fell to Colorado in overtime (3-2).  The Wings are back in action tonight when they host the New Jersey Devils - game time is 7:30pm. 

#22 Michigan St. pulled away in the second half to beat #24 Iowa (86-76) last night at the Breslin Center.  Travis Trice led the Spartans with 17 points, Adreian Payne had 14 on Senior Night!  MSU will wrap up the regular season on Sunday in Columbus against Ohio State. 

Justin Verlander's first appearance in spring training was washed out yesterday against the Phillies.  His next scheduled start is next Thursday against Toronto, but the Tigers will be back in action tonight against the NY Yankees in Tampa.  First pitch is 7:05pm. 

WMU and CMU will tussle again on the hardcourt tonight in Mt. Pleasant.  Western has won 9 of their last 10 games and is tied for 1st. Place in the MAC West Division.  Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm - Tip-off is 7pm, and you can listen to it live this evening right here on ESPN 96.1. 

The Detroit Pistons are back on the hardwood tonight when they travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves.  Tip-off is set for 8pm. 

And finally, the Grand Rapids Griffins will host the Iowa Wild tonight at Van Andel Arena for their 3rd. Annual Purple Community Game to benefit Van Andel Institute.  Pregame coverage with Bob Kaser begins at 6:40pm with faceoff scheduled for 7pm over on Newsradio WOOD 1300 & 106.9 FM.
