The Tigers completed a 2-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox yesterday afternoon winning (5-1). Max Scherzer earned his third win in a row, scattering four hits and striking out seven in six scoreless innings. Both Victor Martinez and Bryan Holaday had two RBI. Detroit opens a weekend series against the Royals in Kansas City tomorrow. In other Tigers news, pitching prospect Robbie Ray will take the place of Anibal Sanchez in the rotation and make his Major League debut next week. The team announced yesterday that Ray will take the mound for Tuesday's game against the Astros at Comerica Park.
Five players from the Red Wings will represent their countries in the upcoming Internationl Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship. Justin Abdelkader and Danny DeKeyser will skate for Team USA. Jakub Kindl will play for the Czech Republic, Tomas Tatar will join Slovakia and Gustav Nyquist will play for Sweden. The 17-day tournament begins in Minsk, Belarus on May 9th..
