Victor Martinez hit a two-run homer in the third inning last night to lift the Detroit Tigers over the Boston Red Sox (6-2) at Fenway Park. Torii Hunter also hit a home run while Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs for Detroit, which won it's sixth straight, and 11th. straight on the road. Anibal Sanchez picked up his first win after surrendering just one earned run in five frames of work. The Tigers finish off their nine-game road trip with a stop in Cleveland for a three-game set starting tonight. Drew Smyly will get the start and first pitch is 7pm.

Michigan head basketball coach John Beilein and Michigan State head basketball coach Tom Izzo are staying put in college. The "Detroit Free Press" reports Beilein was one of the targets for the head position with the Detroit Pistons. The "Minnesota Star-Tribune" says Izzo was a target of the Pistons, Timberwolves and Cavaliers, but he turned them all down. Izzo was even offered a five-year, $35 million-dollar deal with Detroit, the same one Stan Van Gundy signed this past week.

In college football recruiting, the Michigan Wolverines are adding to their 2015 recruiting class. The Wolverines landed Indiana's top prospect in four-star linebacker Darrin Kirkland Junior. He also played wide receiver on the offensive side of the ball.
