The Detroit Tigers have now lost 4 straight as Shin-Soo Choo hit a two run homer to lead a 14-hit attack for the Texas Rangers, who rolled the Tigers yesterday afternoon at Comerica Park (9-2). Robbie Ray was tagged for seven runs in less than four innings to take the loss for Detroit. Tonight, Anibal Sanchez takes the mound for Detroit while Scott Baker will get the start for Texas - First pitch is set for 7:08pm.
The Detroit Lions have signed third round draft pick Travis Swanson. Swanson made 50 consecutive starts for Arkansas and has been practicing at center and guard this week during OTAs in Allen Park. The four-year deal is reportedly worth around three-million-dollars. The Lions still have to sign top picks Eric Ebron and Kyle Van Noy.
Davenport University is one step closer to establishing the school's first ever football team. Lou Esposito was named the university's first football coach yesterday at a press conference. Esposito was the defensive coordinator at Ferris St. last season for Tony Annese, and from 2010-2012, he served as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for Bill Cubit at Western Michigan University.
