Derek Norris capped a five-homer day for the A's with a grand slam as Oakland routed the Detroit Tigers (10-0) yesterday afternoon.  Kyle Blanks homered in his home debut, while Brandon Moss and Josh Donaldson each connected for their 12th home run of the season.  Tigers starter Drew Smyly surrendered four of the five homers in the game and falls to (2-3) on the season.  The two teams will play game #2 of the series tonight in Oakland.  Game time is 10:05pm as Max Scherzer at (6-1) faces Sonny Gray (5-1).  Detroit is now (28-19) - 5 games in front of Chicago in the AL Central. 

In the NBA Playoffs, the Miami Heat moved one game away from a fourth straight NBA Finals appearance last night by defeating Indiana (102-90).  LeBron James went off for 32 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the win, and the Heat now lead the series 3-games to 1.  Game #4 of the Western Conference Finals tonight between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs...the Spurs lead the series 2-games to 1.  Pregame coverage begins at 8pm here on ESPN 96.1. 

Red Wings prospect Anthony Mantha has been named Canadian Hockey League Player of the Year.  The 19-year-old forward from Quebec scored 81 goals in 81 regular-season and playoff games for Val-d'Or.  He is expected to compete for a Red Wings roster spot during training camp in September. 

And finally, the West Michigan Whitecaps got shutout (15-0) yesterday at Bowling Green.  The Caps and Hot Rods will play the series finale tonight starting at 8:05pm in Kentucky.
