The Tigers couldn't hang on last night in Oakland as closer Joe Nathan surrendered a three run walkoff homer to Josh Donaldson to end the game...(3-1) the final.  Anibal Sanchez did his part, giving up just 3 hits while striking out nine in eight and one third innings of work.  Detroit will try to salvage a split of the four game series this afternoon in the series finale.  Rick Porcello will get the start for the Tigers against Jesse Chavez of the A's.

Because of a decrease in the number of students buying season tickets, the University of Michigan athletic department will offer new ticket options for the upcoming football season.  From a Family package to two 3-game package options ranging from $150-$260, fans can be a part of the excitement on Gameday at the Big House.  U-M opens the season at home, hosting Appalachian State on August 30th..

Tiger Woods will not be playing in next month's U.S. Open.  The 14-time major champion is still recovering from back surgery and made the announcement on his website.  It will be the second straight major Woods has missed this season.  The U.S. Open begins Thursday, June 12th at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.

Austin Schotts and Jeff Holm each had 2 hits last night as the West Michigan Whitecaps cruised to an easy (8-1) victory over the Dayton Dragons.  The Caps and Dragons will go back at it tonight with first pitch set for 6:35pm at Fifth-Third Ballpark.

Plus, finally, don't forget that tonight is Game #5 of the Western Conference Finals in the NBA Playoffs as San Antonio hosts Oklahoma City.  Pregame coverage begins at 8pm with tipoff at 9pm here on ESPN 96.1....the series is tied at (2-2).
