Seattle's Roenis Elias struck out eight batters and allowed just 3 hits in a complete game effort to blank the Tigers (4-0) yesterday in Seattle.  Max Scherzer struck out seven while allowing four runs in less than seven innings for his second loss. Scherzer is now (6-2) on the season.  Detroit is off today, and then will host Toronto in the first of three games tomorrow.  The Tigers will start Anibal Sanchez in the series opener.  In NBA news, the Detroit Pistons search for a new general manager continues.  ESPN says Jeff Bower and Scott Layden are among the targets.  Bower was with the Hornets for 14 seasons as a coach and GM.  Layden is the assistant GM of the Spurs.  The West Michigan Whitecaps were victorious (19-1) yesterday in Ft. Wayne, which is the most lopsided win for the Caps in their 21-year franchise history.  The Caps will take on the Tin Caps again tonight - 7:05pm-First pitch in Ft. Wayne.  Helio Castroneves capped the racing weekend in Detroit by winning Race Two of the Dual in Detroit yesterday.  Will Power won Race One on Saturday.  Power was also second on Sunday.  Castroneves is the fifth different winner in seven IndyCar races.  Clint Dempsey scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 52nd minute as the United States defeated Turkey yesterday (2-1) in a World Cup tuneup.  The U.S. plays Nigeria in Jacksonville on Saturday for their final send off before the World Cup.  Plus, just a reminder that your exclusive radio home for the 2014 World Cup is right here on ESPN 96.1.  Finally, a salute to our West Michigan high school team state champions from the weekend:
