The Tigers and White Sox were washed out last night for Game #2 of their 4 game series on the southside.  Tonight - Game #3 will feature the scheduled starters from last night as Justin Verlander battles Chicago's John Danks.  First pitch is set for 8:10pm, and a makeup date has not yet been announced for yesterday's game. 

The West Michigan Whitecaps took 11 innings last night in Midland, but they finally defeated the Great Lakes Loons (3-1)...extending their winning streak to a season-high 7 games.  The Caps magic number to earn a playoff spot in the first half of the season is now 1 game. 

Congratulations to the Wayland Union varsity softball team!  They were the only team yesterday in state quarterfinal action to win.  The Wildcats defeated Hudsonville Unity Christian (7-0) to advance to the Division 2 semifinals and will play Livonia Ladywood at 3pm on Friday at Michigan State University. 

Yesterday at Blythefield Country Club, the LPGA held a media press conference to announce the Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft coming to Blythefield August 7-10.  A full-field of 144 players will participate in the 4-day tournament and tickets are on sale now at or by calling 1-800-444-5742.
