Ian Kinsler hit a solo shot in his first at-bat back in Arlington and helped the Detroit Tigers top the Texas Rangers (8-2) last night.  Kinsler finished with three RBI while J.D. Martinez hit a two-run dinger in the win.  The Tigers pounded out 16 hits with Rajai Davis and Alex Avila collecting three hits each as Detroit extended their winning streak to five games.  Tonight, Anibal Sanchez takes the mound for Detroit and Texas will send Joe Saunders to the hill.  First pitch is 8:05pm.

A familiar face is back in the Tigers organization as Detroit has reacquired relief pitcher Daniel Schlereth from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.  He has been assigned to Triple-A Toledo.

The West Michigan Whitecaps fell to Lansing last night (5-4).  Game #2 of the series will take place this evening...first pitch is 7:05pm.

And don't forget to join us tonight along with the West Michigan Sports Commission and Gilda's Club Grand Rapids for the "Ping Pong Summer Night" event at Celebration Cinema North.  Our own Bret Bakita will compete along with other local celebrities and ESPN 96.1 listeners in a table tennis tournament starting at 6pm, and then at 7:30pm, there will be a private screening of "Ping Pong Summer" starring Susan Sarandon and Gilda's Laughfest alum Judah Friedlander.  Tickets are just $15 and include the movie, pop, popcorn and access to the table tennis tournament.  Plus, a portion of every ticket sold will directly benefit Gilda's Club.
