Detroit Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis hit a walk-off grand slam last night at Comerica Park to give the Tigers a (5-4) win over the Oakland A's. Miguel Cabrera also had a solo home run. Starter Anibal Sanchez gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits while striking out two in seven innings. In other Tigers news, designated hitter Victor Martinez is day-to-day after he was scratched from yesterday's lineup with soreness around his back. Manager Brad Ausmus took him out after he decided he did not want to lose him for an extended period of time.
The Detroit Pistons will not pick up the $2.5-million-dollar option on veteran guard Chauncey Billups for the 2014-15 season. The 37-year-old signed with Detroit last summer, but had to have knee surgery and appeared in only 19 games last year.
The West Michigan Whitecaps will host the Lansing Lugnuts tonight at Fifth-Third Ballpark on 'Canada Night'...first pitch is 7pm. The Caps successfully swept the Bowling Green Hot Rods yesterday afternoon with an (8-5) victory. West Michigan is now (48-33) overall on the season.
