The Kansas City Royals dropped five runs in the seventh inning to knock off the Detroit Tigers (5-2) at Kauffman Stadium yesterday.  Omar Infante grabbed two RBI in the win.  Justin Verlander was tagged for four runs in six-and-a-third to fall to (8-8).  The Tigers closed out the first-half of the season with a (53-38) record and hold a six-and-a-half game lead in the American League Central over the Royals.

Four Tigers are heading to Minneapolis to take part in the All-Star Game festivities.  Miguel Cabrera, Max Scherzer and DH Victor Martinez were all selected.  Martinez will not play though and was replaced by his teammate and second baseman Ian Kinsler.  The Home Run Derby will be held tonight and you can listen to it live beginning at 8pm right here on ESPN 96.1.  The MLB All-Star Game will take place tomorrow night with coverage beginning at 7pm again right here on ESPN 96.1.

The Detroit Pistons continue to try and improve their three-point shooting.  Multiple outlets report Detroit agreed to a contract with small forward Caron Butler.  ESPN had the terms of the deal two years for around $10 million dollars.  Butler shot 44-percent from three last year in 22 games with the Thunder.  The Pistons also have agreed to a two-year - $6 million dollar deal with former Bulls point guard D.J. Augustin.  He resurrected his career with Chicago last season, averaging 14.9 points with five assists in 30 minutes per game over 61 games.

Lastly, the West Michigan Whitecaps won a thriller over Dayton yesterday (6-5)...they will go for a 4-game sweep tonight - 7pm first pitch.
