Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer as the Detroit Tigers grabbed a (5-1) win over the Cleveland Indians and avoided a four-game sweep at Comerica Park.  Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Drew Smyly improved to (6-8) with seven innings of one-run ball.  Detroit ended a four-game losing streak.  The Tigers travel to Arizona today to open up a three-game interleague series with the Diamondbacks.  First pitch is 9:40pm....Justin Verlander will take the mound for Detroit, up against Vidal Nuno of the Diamondbacks. 

The plans for a new Detroit Red Wings arena have been released.  The venue and surrounding area is expected to cost $650 million dollars.  There will be a $200 million dollar entertainment district as well.  Both are expected to be completed by the summer of 2017. 

The Walter Camp Award - given annually to the top overall football player in the country, released its 50-player list over the weekend.  On the list, MSU defensive lineman Shilique Calhoun, U-M wide receiver Devin Funchess and Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson. 

In Midwest League action, the West Michigan Whitecaps lost to Burlington (5-3) yesterday at Fifth-Third Ballpark.  Those two will play the series finale tonight beginning at 7pm.
