Help is hopefully on the way for the bullpen Tiger fans as yesterday Detroit traded for Texas closer Joakim Soria.  Soria is (1-3) with 17 saves on the season and a 2.70 ERA in 35 games this season with the Rangers.  The Tigers had to give up right-handed pitchers Corey Knebel and Jake Thompson.  Yesterday, Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to help the Tigers to an (11-5) win over the Diamondbacks.  Austin Jackson drove in three runs with a double, and Alex Avila also had three RBI.  Detroit opens a four game series with the Angels in Los Angeles tonight.  First pitch is 10:05pm and Max Scherzer will get the start against the Angels Garret Richards.

The Detroit Lions are dealing with shoulder injuries this offseason and three players have been put on the physically unable to perform list.  Defensive end Ziggy Ansah had shoulder surgery in February and has not practiced this spring.  Free agent receiver Golden Tate injured his shoulder during OTA's in May and rookie receiver T.J. Jones had arthroscopic surgery last month to repair and injury he suffered in college.  All three are expected to be ready for the regular season.

In Midwest League action, the Whitecaps fell short in Clinton last night, losing to the Lumberkings (4-2).  Game #2 of the 3 game series is tonight with first pitch at 7:30pm.

Lastly, just a reminder that you can hear the Brickyard 400 live this Sunday from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway starting at Noon over on Newsradio WOOD 1300 & 106.9 FM.
