Jose Bautista hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 19th inning to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a (6-5) win over the Tigers yesterday. David Price allowed four runs in six-plus innings while Rick Porcello took the loss. The Tigers take on the Pirates tonight in the first of a four-game home-and-home series. First pitch is 7:05pm and Justin Verlander will take the mound for Detroit. The Tigers also have placed starter Anibal Sanchez and reliever Joakim Soria on the disabled list. Sanchez is suffering from a right pectoralis major strain while Soria has a left oblique strain.
In Pistons news, Greg Monroe is denying he received a large contract offer from Detroit. The "Detroit Free Press" previously reported the Pistons offered the restricted free agent a five-year deal worth $60 million dollars. He said via Twitter on Sunday, "can't reject anything that was not offered to me....carry on."
Mirim Lee birdied the second playoff hole yesterday to defeat Inbee Park and win the first-ever Meijer LPGA Classic at Blythefield Country Club. Lee, a rookie, earned her first career win on the LPGA Tour.
