Victor Martinez tallied three hits with a two-run homer and four RBI to help the Detroit Tigers to a (13-4) win yesterday over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.  Torii Hunter totaled four RBI as well while Rajai Davis left the yard for Detroit.  Max Scherzer threw five innings to pick up his 15th win of the season.  The Tigers have the day off today, and will open a three-game series against the New York Yankees at Comerica Park on Tuesday.

George Winn scored the winning touchdown on a one-yard run with half the time gone in the fourth quarter as the Lions defeated the Jaguars (13-12) on Friday night.  Matthew Stafford threw for 98 yards and an interception for Detroit, which moved to (2-1) in the preseason.  The Lions end the preseason Thursday at Buffalo.

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond is on Team USA for the FIBA World Cup.  He's one of six big men to make the 12-man roster.  The Americans play one last tuneup against Slovenia before starting the World Cup in Spain on Saturday against Finland.

Closer to home, the West Michigan Whitecaps lost at South Bend yesterday (6-3).  They will take on the Silverhawks again tonight starting at 7:05pm.
