Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez saved his best for his last at-bat last night as his three run homer in the ninth inning propelled the Tigers to a (4-2) win over Cleveland.  Starter Kyle Lobstein got the no-decision giving up two runs on five hits while striking out ten in five and one third innings, Phil Coke notched his third win of the season and Joe Nathan earned his 29th save of the year.  Tonight, Justin Verlander gets the start for Detroit, while Danny Salazar gets the nod for Cleveland.  First pitch is 7:05pm. 

The Detroit Lions have placed rookie linebacker Kyle Van Noy on the short-term injured reserve list.  Van Noy had core muscle surgery last week after he was injured before Detroit's third preseason game against Jacksonville.  The Lions open against the NY Giants this Monday night at Ford Field.

The Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations and new Head Coach Stan Van Gundy, along with General Manager Jeff Bower will assist the Grand Rapids Drive President Steve Jbara with announcing the first-ever Head Coach for their inaugural season.  The press conference is scheduled for this afternoon at 4:30pm at the Drive's retail offices downtown.
