The Detroit Tigers open a seven-game road trip tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays.  Max Scherzer will get the start for Detroit while Chris Archer takes the hill for Tampa Bay.  First pitch is set for 7:10pm.  Pitcher David Price will face his former team for the first time in the series finale on Thursday.  Detroit will visit the Minnesota Twins for four games before returning to Comerica Park.

Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson is expected to make his preseason debut when Detroit hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field on Friday.  Head coach Jim Caldwell says the team plans to let Johnson get some work in this week after he sat out the first two preseason games against Cleveland and Oakland.  Johnson had surgery on his knee and finger in the offseason.

In college football news, Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke has dismissed sophomore receiver Csont'e York from the team.  York had been suspended since an incident outside a bar in Ann Arbor last month.  Video surveillance shows a man police identify as York punching one man and pushing another.  In a statement released yesterday evening, Hoke said representing the University of Michigan is a privilege and while second chances are deserved, sometimes it's better if they happen somewhere else.  York is facing three assault charges in the case and is due in court September 8th.

A source confirmed to ESPN.com that Ohio St. QB - Braxton Miller reinjured his right throwing shoulder during practice yesterday.  Miller underwent minor surgery on the shoulder back in February.

Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations and head coach Stan Van Gundy has announced the team has signed center Aaron Gray and forward Cartier Martin to contracts.

And in Midwest League action, the Whitecaps beat Lansing (7-5) at Fifth-Third Ballpark last night.  The same two teams will square off tonight at 7pm.
