Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera will bat fourth in the lineup in the All-Star Game at Target Field in Minneapolis tonight.  Cabrera, along with pitcher Max Scherzer and second baseman Ian Kinsler will represent Detroit in the 85th Midsummer Classic.  Designated hitter Victor Martinez was named as an American League reserve, but will sit out tonight with a strained right side and was replaced on the roster by Kinsler.  First pitch tonight is set for 8pm, but our pregame coverage begins at 7pm right here on ESPN 96.1.  Also, New York Yankees shortstop and Kalamazoo native Derek Jeter will play in his final All-Star game tonight and bat leadoff for the American League. 

The University of Michigan and the University of Oklahoma will meet on the football field for the first time in the regular season as part of a home-and-home series.  Officials from both schools made the announcement yesterday.  The Wolverines will visit the Sooners in the first game at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma on September 6th, 2025, while Michigan will host Oklahoma on September 12th, 2026, at Michigan Stadium. 

The Detroit Pistons officially introduced the team's first free agent signing, guard Jodie Meeks, at a press conference yesterday.  Last week, Meeks signed a three-year deal reportedly worth around $20 million dollars.  In his last two seasons with the LA Lakers, he averaged 11.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists. 

The Grand Rapids Griffins yesterday re-signed veteran defenseman Brennan Evans to a 1 year contract.  Evans, 32, has spent the past 2 seasons with Grand Rapids. 

Lastly, the West Michigan Whitecaps successfully completed a 4-game sweep of the Dayton Dragons last night on the road, beating Dayton (7-5).  The Caps are off today before opening up a 6-game homestand tomorrow night at Fifth-Third Ballpark against Peoria.
