It is Riverbank Run morning -- pleasant weather for the more 21,000 participants and about 38,000 spectators and 2,000 volunteers.

Reminder for those coming downtown, increased security will remain in place. Random bag checks by security personnel; do not leave belongings unattended, and report any suspicious activity to nearest security personnel.

For those running, Metro Health Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Edwin Kornoelje tells WOOD Radio listen to your body. If something doesn't feel right, seek medical attention.

"If the pain resolves itself after a few minutes of running, then great. If it doesn't, or the light-headedness continues or if there is chest pain, then it is time to seek help."

Dr. Kornoelje says after the race is finished, the best post-race drink would be chocolate milk.

"It has an excellent balance of carbohydrates and protein that can refuel the body. Water is good, Gatorade is fine."
