The Detroit Tigers reportedly signed lefty David Price in a three-way trade that sends top starters out of the Motor City.
Trade deadline expired Thursday afternoon with the American League Central Division leaders in the running for several top hurlers.
In return, Tigers give up long-time center fielder Austin Jackson, one of the hotter bats in the Motor City, to the Mariners. They, in turn, send second-baseman Nick Franklin to Tampa.
Tampa also get ace-in-waiting Drew Smyly.
Jackson batted .270 for the Tigers with a .330 OBP, .397 SLG and .397 OPS. Under the small-ball era of manager Brad Ausmus, he stole nine bases this season.
Smyly went 6-9 over 20 games for a 3.77 ERA.
