Authorities said Tuesday that northbound US 131 was closed near Wealthy St. as of 1:20pm.
A semi jack-knifed through the S-curve in downtown Grand Rapids after heavy rains moved through the area.
Traffic was backed up for several miles. There were no reports of injuries at this time. The incident was reported shortly after 1 p.m, but by 1:30 p.m, authorities had managed to move the vehicle, though a wrecker was needed.
The Michigan Department of Transportation, meanwhile adds there will be double lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m for bridge work from Pearl St. to Wealthy St.
Traffic will be down to one lane with the left lanes closed.
"The southbound US-131 lane closure and traffic shift from Leonard Street to Wealthy Street remains in place through Aug. 28," MDOT says.
