The man found guilty in April in connection to the deaths of two people in a drunk driving car wreck was sentenced Wednesday.
Joseph Jay Ford was sentenced in Kent County Circuit Court to 12.5 to 30 years for one count of operating while intoxicated casing death and one year for a moving vehicle violation causing death. Both sentences will be served concurrently, according to WOOD TV.
In October of 2013 Eric Fischer, 23, and Andrea Herrera, 20, were killed in Cascade township as a result of the wreck caused by Ford at the intersection of Patterson Avenue and 36th Street.
Police accounted Ford hit a car (Fischer and Herrera's) in the intersection which subsequently caused both Ford's vehicle and the other vehicle to hit a semi-truck, killing Fischer and Herrera.
