A Detroit judge Thursday dismissed sexual assault charges filed against Detroit Tigers minor league pitcher Evan Reed.
The 28-year-old former Major League Baseball pitcher was accused of assaulting a 45-year-old woman at the Motor City Casino on March 30, the day before Opening Day.
Casino security video displayed in court Thursday show the alleged victim stumbling as she got out of a taxi with Reed. The woman claimed she blacked out at one point, but remembers having some sort of sexual encounter with Reed later in the evening.
Despite protests from prosecuting attorneys, Judge Kenneth King said there were lingering questions of credibility in the case.
"The problem is what happened in that hotel room … no one knows," he said.
There was no comment from the Detroit Tigers or the Toledo Mudhens, the AAA affiliate.
