Some heated words and nothing resolved are the outcomes of last night's Grand Rapids City Commission meeting where several people showed up wearing guns on their hips.

The state government has no problem with that, but Mayor George Heartwell and the other city commissioners do.

Heartwell said "It makes me uncomfortable", telling WOOD TV that he and the other commissioners are united in their flat opposition to any weapons being at a public meeting.

The members of the group Michigan Open Carry are just as insistent the city accept the state law.
