Residents of Beer City will be able to get a premier craft brew from Oregon, Deschutes, starting in October, the distributor said.
"Our fans in Michigan are passionate about their craft beer and we’re looking forward to them being able to get Deschutes in their home state," Stacy Denbow, expansion manager for Deschutes Brewery, said Thursday.
Deschutes said it's teaming up with West Side Beer Distributing to bring its craft beers to consumers in Grand Rapids, as well as the Kalamazoo and Lansing areas.
The brewer said early distribution will be limited and includes its Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Inversion IPA and Jubelale, a winter seasonal beer.
"We are keeping a close eye on capacity, and that’s why we are focusing only on the western portion of Michigan at this point," Denbow said.
