Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Church at 36th and Kalamazoo

Posted May 17th, 2014 @ 10:57am by John C. Smith, WOOD Radio News Team

It's happened before, and Brookside CRC tried to keep their church building from being struck by motorists once again with landscaping in line with lanes of 36th Street SE.

A driver now in custody missed the arrow signaling drivers to turn north or south onto Kalamazoo around 2:30 a.m. Grand Rapids Police tell WOOD Radio the driver was taken into custody. The man driving the pickup truck had a blood alcohol count twice the legal limit and wasn't hurt in the crash. His vehicle went into the church office.

He'd hit a boulder and a tree on the way to the building.
