Michigan State Police are investigating a home explosion this morning in Newaygo County.

Police say it happened when they were executing a search warrant on a home in Sheridan Township for a suspected methamphetamine cooking operation.

When officers questioned individuals that left the residence, it was determined that the main suspect was still inside the home. While trying to communicate with the suspect to come out of the residence, it burst into flames after an explosion.

The suspect was found conscious in a debris field and taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. The extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.

No officers were injured.
