A minor league baseball team in Syracuse, NY, wanted their fans to be dying to see a game so bad -- they gave away a free funeral.

You've heard of bobble-heads and team hats, but the Syracuse Chiefs - - the AAA affiliate for the Washington Nations -- gave away a funeral.

The team, in what they called "Celebration of Life Night," teamed up with a local funeral home to give "one lucky fan" a free funeral.

To win, fans had to submit an essay of 200 words or less describing ways they celebrate life.

The "lucky fan" received a casket, a service, body removal and preparation, a ceremony and, of course, a hearse for cemetery transfer.

The value of the deal? $7,500.
