Fishing Tip of the Week: Catch the Elusive Walleye

Posted July 31st, 2014 @ 8:39am

If you've ever had fresh walleye you know just how tasty it is. It can be hard to catch, but it's worth it.

Here's your weekly fishing tip.

Walleyes are predator fish and they eat a wide range of smaller baitfish like yellow perch and minnows. A lot of anglers will use minnows and crank baits, BUT walleye also feed on aquatic insects!

Crawlers on crawler harnesses can be an effective way to work towards a limit.

This time of year walleye are usually in the 20-35 feet depth range feeding on insects or baitfish. Using the crawler harness at a low speed can be just the thing to hook a big'n.
