GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Community Foundation has launched a new initiative called the LGBT fund with a goal of helping lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender kids who are homeless.

Representatives from the foundation declined to speak to 24 Hour News 8 Friday, saying that initiative is too new and their policy is “go public with anything” until a significant amount of money has been raised.

Mailers have gone out to people in the community and there is also a Facebook page and website specifically dedicated to the LGBT fund.

The fund’s Facebook page said it’s currently trying to match an initial $100,000 donation.
