For the first time in more than a year, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer is slightly leading Republican Governor Rick Snyder, according to a new poll.
Lansing-based EPIC/MRA poll showing Schauer with 45-percent support to Snyder's 43-percent. However, Schauer's two point advantage is within the poll's four-percentage-point margin of error, meaning the race is a statistical dead heat.
It's the first time that EPIC/MRA has shown Schauer with any kind of lead over Snyder and the Gongwer News Service reports the last poll of any kind to show Schauer ahead was a June 2013 survey from Public Policy Polling that gave him a four point lead.
The EPIC/MRA poll of 600 likely voters was conducted from August 22 to August 25.
