The small storm that moved across West Michigan in the late afternoon brought hail to communities from Fremont, through Walker, and down past Gun Lake. 

But it was at Gun Lake that the winds howled fiercely enough to cut the power off to thousands of utility customers.

WOOD TV's  Bill Steffen says it even piled up the lake-water in a "seiche", a wind driven standing wave against the south-shore,  making a two foot difference in water height across the breadth of Gun Lake.
