Ionia Prison Escapee's Co-Defendant Attests to Innocence
Posted February 13th, 2014 @ 4:31am by WOOD Radio News Team

While Michigan's governor sends the official paperwork to Indiana get the extradition started for the Ionia prison escapee, WOOD TV reports one of Michael Elliot's co-defendants claims Elliot is innocent of the four murders of which he and several others were convicted.

Elliot was sent to prison almost 20 years ago, but one of the other people also convicted of the multiple murders says Elliot did not do it.

Charles Treece told WOOD TV that he, Treece, pulled the trigger and later left evidence from the murder at Elliot's house. He also says Elliot bought the murder gun from another of the killers.

Elliot has appealed his conviction 10 times, and WOOD TV says each appeal has been denied.  Elliot says he fled to Indiana during his escape because Michigan would no longer let him try to prove his innocence.
