Michael Frymire started his cross-lake trip in a kayak, but ended being flown to shore in a Coast Guard helicopter.

WOOD TV reports that Frymire, 31, tried to cross the widest sections of Lake Michigan, by himself, but with 10-foot waves and winds gusting near 30, he could not stay awake any longer and feared drowning.

He had been 34 hours wtih no sleep, and was unable to keep any food down because of the conditions.
