The motorcycle rider killed on 17 mile road outside Kent City this morning, died when a car turned in front of him.   State police say the cars driver was turning into a private driveway and hit the bike rider. 

Michigan State Police report that the 2004 Chevy Impala was driven by Cody Jerls, 28, from Kent City.  Jerls was eastbound on 17 Mile Road and attempted a left turn into a private driveway.  Troopers say he turned into the path of the westbound motorcycle, which collided broadside into the Impala.

The identity of the motorcycle driver is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.  

 

The accident happened around 6 this morning in the 1800 block of 17 Mile Road.  17 mile is still closed for the death investigation between Barber Creek and Sparta Avenue.
