A Marquette man will be on the ski slopes at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, as a volunteer helping to prepare the courses.
The Mining Journal of Marquette reports  that Greg Goodman was chosen by the Olympics committee to help with course setup and race day work.
He calls it a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,'' but in his case it's twice. He also volunteered at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
Goodman was an All-American in alpine skiing Michigan Tech University. For the past 10 years he has been a ski coach for the Marquette Mountain Race Team and Great Lakes Ski Academy. He works at Argonics Inc. in Marquette as a technical supervisor.
He also hopes to catch other events such as bobsled, skeleton and women's ski jumping.
