The little girl from Spring Lake who was mauled by a raccoon when she was a baby has had several plastic surgeries to repair the damage. The latest happens this spring, as Charlotte Ponce who is 12 years old now will have a new ear rebuilt from other parts of her body.

It should be ready to be attached in June.

WOOD TV reports that the plastic surgeon at a hospital in Royal Oak will use parts of Charlotte's rib cartilage to shape the ear and then have her own body grow some skin around it, before attaching it where it belongs.

Reportedly, this is a procedure that's only been done twice before in history.

Charlotte has had other surgeries to rebuild her face where her cheek and nose were bitten off.
