It was so cold the city of Grand Rapids closed its outdoor ice skating rink last night.  Rosa Parks Circle expects to re-open Saturday at noon.

It was so snowy that some Lakeshore counties pulled their plow trucks off the roads for safety.

It is so deep in some spots Saturday morning, that a couple pre-dawn plows reported being stuck.

It was so much Winter that Hope College canceled Winter Saturday morning.  Well--  canceled their Winter Happening event, at any rate.

Most of the problem was the wind.  Muskegon only had three inches of new snow up to midnight, and Grand Rapids reported four.  The National Weather Service, since, has updated snowfall totals to between 6 and 12 inches across West Michigan, and extended the Winter Storm Warning to 4 p.m. today.
