One person is dead after a crash last night in Lowell on the overpass of I-96 and Alden Nash Avenue.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. and involved a pick-up truck and mini-van. A State Police officer told WOOD-TV the mini-van ran out of gas and an adult went out to push it. The driver of a pick-up truck then hit the van and killed the person who was pushing the van.

Police also said the driver of the pick-up truck ran into the woods following the crash. That man is now behind bars at the Kent County Jail.

Authorities said children were involved in the crash, but have not released their conditions yet. Aero-med was called to the scene.
