Prostitutes Find More Danger Online than On the Street

Hookers do not walk down South Divison Avenue in Grand Rapids anymore, as police detectives say the business has moved online.

A prostitute can be hired at several websites and police say that often she, or the buyer, are in danger.

Blind hookups make "it a hundred times more dangerous," according to one former sex worker who founded Eve's Angels, a Christian organization dedicated to helping women leave the sex trade.

Anny Donewald tells WOOD TV that woman "can’t judge customers on sight using intuition" if they are hired by email or phone.

Donewald said her organization is needed to help prostitutes find legitimate jobs because a lot the girls were "conditioned in the sex industry since they were 12 and 13 years old" and "don't know any other way" to make a living.
