The Saginaw Police Department adds a new member to its staff - and it's a robot. A federal grant funds the almost $20,000 iRobot FirstLook.
Chief Brian Lipe said the law enforcement tool is equipped with audio and video, and can be used in dangerous situations.
According to the company, the robot can climb steps, be thrown into a building, dropped 16 feet and comes with two way radios for communication. It's also waterproof.
It'll be available to police departments across Saginaw County as part of the grant agreement.
