Reportedly, the farm where a spill of pure liquid manure originated in Allegan County is cleaning up the mess. But the mess has gone five miles downstream, according to published reports.

The Schaendorf Dairy Farm on 130th near Hopkins had a broken valve on a manure tank and it was leaking directly into a creek.

The DEQ says the mess threatened the Rabbit River, but the farmer has been sucking up the creek water, downstream, to keep it from getting any further.

John Schaendorf told TV17 this has "never happened before."
