While Spectrum Health has grown to take regional hospitals into its operation in recent years, today's announcement points to independent operation with a health care neighbor.

The Forum for Hospital Collaboration links Spectrum with Holland Hospital, a welcome development according to Dale Sowders. The Holland Hospital CEO and President told WOOD Radio they work together in a number of ways already, recognizing Spectrum's management of nearby Zeeland Hospital. "We're looking at each other, saying we both intend to remain independent. That doesn't mean we can't have some coordinating efforts."

John Mosley, Spectrum's Executive Vice President for Business Development told WOOD Radio while they may work together on some operational aspects, it's primarily a program to help patients receive better care. "To find ways to make sure our clinical integration is more complete. We work together to have the right clinical protocols to give the best care to the patient."
