The state was granted emergency custody of a newborn abandoned in Newaygo, a court ruled Wednesday.

A 14-year-old girl abandoned the newborn on a road after giving birth on a blanket outside her home. A passerby walking his dog discovered the naked infant, now under car at Devos Children's Hospital.

The Michigan Deptartment of Human Service asked for emergency custody Wednesday.

Authorities say they're still investigating the situation.
