Epic/MRA polling says Governor Rick Snyder has an eight-point lead over the Democrat running against him in this year's election. Snyder had support from 47 percent of poll respondents and Congressman Mark Schauer had 39 percent.
More than half of the people in this poll did not recognize Schauer's name. In the US Senate race, the poll finds even numbers between Republican Terry Lynn Land and Democrat Gary Peters.
Nearly half of everyone told the pollsters that Michigan's government is on the right track, but less than one-third think the federal government is.
And more than 60 percent give President Obama failing marks for his job performance.
