University of Michigan was the sole school in the state to be ranked in the top tier in a survey from Money Magazine.

The magazine ranked U.S. universities on 17 criteria ranging from alumni earnings to quality of education.

Grand Valley State University received a grade of B- in the survey, scoring low among the 665 colleges surveyed. The University of Michigan received a B grade, ranking 22nd overall.

No university in Michigan scored in the Top 25 in terms affordability.

Kim Clark, a senior writer for Money Magazine, said tuition isn't a good indicator for quality of education.

"There was zero correlation between the price a school says it charges and whether it does a good job of education your child," she said.
